Yesterday didn't feel like fall. The sun was out, the temp was in the 80's and the wind wasn't blowing. Miracles!
These days the sunny hours are getting shorter and the nights are longer and colder. The urgency to get out and use up all the warmth and sunshine was overwhelming. So we hooked the bike rack to the car, loaded up the bikes and headed for the park. It was wonderful-- even if I ate a few bugs along the way.
As we leisurely pedaled along the path, I couldn't help feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for where I live, what I do, the people in my life and my knowledge of the gospel. My situation isn't the ideal, the norm, and not even close to how I thought I would be living at this point in my life. Disappointments and heartbreak aren't singular to me, I know, but, thankfully, I have friendship, family, comfort and the Savior's love.
I'm happy we made the choice to go on a ride last night. I needed the fresh air and some perspective.
